So, What Is This?

This is my blog…

I have absolutely nothing cool or interesting to write about. I don’t even really enjoy writing, to be honest. You’re probably wondering why the hell I have a blog then, and you’d be right to question it. I just think having a blog is cool. So here it is, my blog.

What will I post about?

I honestly have no clue. I’ll probably write posts about my experiences as they happen in real time. There’s a lot I’ve done in the past that I could probably stretch into a decent read, but I don’t feel like digging through my memory to do that.

I lack motivation quite a bit, so I doubt I’ll be making a lot of posts.

The blog will mostly consist of things related to coding or self-hosting open-source software. I use C# for the vast majority of what I code, unless I absolutely can’t or it wouldn’t make any sense to.

Things I know, and things I don’t

I like to think I know .NET and C#, but I often see people use language features I’ve never seen before. The amount of features in this language is insane, and the ecosystem just keeps getting bigger. If you want to make something, there’s a good chance someone’s already done it, or there’s a well-made package that lets you build it yourself with minimal effort.

On the rare occasion you do have to make it yourself, C# makes that pretty easy with how well it’s designed.

I also know JavaScript and TypeScript “pretty well”, although I rarely use them because I fucking hate frontend web development. I use C# for web APIs because ASP.NET loves me.

I’ve made things in Rust before, but I don’t exactly know the language. I like it, but I rarely get the chance to use it, since most of what I’d ever want to make ends up being in C#. So when I do come back to Rust, I’m pretty hazy.

There you go! my first blog post

This took me longer to write than it should’ve, probably because I kept proof reading it after every single sentence. Its literally 2:52am right now I should probably go to sleep but I’m not tired at all.

To end off the blog, here’s a comment from PurelyAndy:

“meow meow meow! what an amazing blog post Nathaniel!”
